The Becket Cultural Council gives priority to projects and programs that benefit local organizations and local citizens of all ages. Other priorities include applications that support local youth and senior programs, new applicants or projects, projects that emphasize cultural diversity, and projects that will take place in a local venue and show local community support.
Grants are given to projects and programs that support community-oriented arts, humanities and science projects in and for the Becket community. The Council will also entertain funding proposals from schools and youth groups through field trip applications and a ticket subsidy program for school-aged children. If a grant applicant's proposal includes fundraising for another Becket organization (such as the Food Pantry or the Becket-Washington school) then before receiving reimbursement the applicant must submit documentation to demonstrate that the donation has been sent and received. Applications are available at the Becket Town Hall, the Athenaeum or on line at http://www.massculturalcouncil.org .
All applications should be typed and signed by the applicant and sent ( postmarked) or delivered to the Town Hall by the October 15 deadline. Programs must be specifically described with the names, artist fees, and the qualifications of the individual(s) leading the activity. Applications from individuals outside the community must include a local venue, with date and time, as well as a local contact that is sponsoring the activity. Out-of-town applicants without local sponsors will be rejected.
