BLACKSTONE CULTURAL COUNCIL
GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP SET FOR AUGUST 7

August 7, 2010, Blackstone, Massachusetts – Are you an artist, storyteller, musician, or performer? Do you belong to a group that either creates or sponsors cultural events? The Blackstone Cultural Council invites you to attend a Grant Writing Workshop on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 10:00 – 12:00 at the Blackstone Public Library’s meeting room. Practical information on why and how to apply for a grant will be presented and questions will be answered. Light refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be awarded for a limited number of participants.

During the 2010 cycle, more than $5,000 in grants was awarded to local non-profit groups to hire performers, and to performers themselves for events in Blackstone. The informational session is for those groups and individuals who would like to apply for the 2011 grant cycle, with applications due on October 15, 2010.

The Blackstone Cultural Council is made up of some of your neighbors who volunteer to award state grants to individuals and groups for cultural performances and programs that benefit the residents of Blackstone. It supports local public programs that promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences.

If group representatives or individuals are unable to attend, or if you would like to provide your opinion about the types of cultural events the BCC should fund in Blackstone, please contact Jane Hennedy, BCC Publicist, at JHennedy@gmail.com or via mail at the Municipal Center, 15 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA 01504.
