Grant Basics

Did You Know?
LCCs can publicize their local guidelines and priorities (as well as their news and events) by including them on their own LCC Public Web Page within the Online Office.

Local Guidelines and Priorities

Councils are encouraged to look carefully at their community when crafting local guidelines and to strive to understand and respond to community priorities. Local guidelines and priorities allow councils to make sure that funded projects meet their community's cultural needs.

Because Local Cultural Council funding is not intended to be used as the sole source of funding for projects of a continuing nature, local councils are encouraged to formulate local policies regarding matching funding or funding limits over time in order to ensure that funding remains broadly available to the widest range of community cultural needs.

The funding priorities by which these decisions are made must be made available and publicized to all applicants. If the funding priorities are well known and understood, applications tend to be stronger, making the overall selection process easier.
