The postmark deadline for applications is October 15
New projects: We are particularly interested in new projects. At least 20% of the Council’s funding will be awarded to new initiatives. The Council will look favorably upon proposals that bring new kinds of arts and cultural programming to the community, or that show originality and creativity in making the arts publicly available to Medford residents.
Field trips: Up to 7% of the Council’s funding will be granted to groups of K-12 children for cultural field trips.
Local Medford guidelines
In addition to the general state guidelines for LCC grants and cultural field trip grants, we have specific local guidelines.
Timetable: For the grant cycle with a deadline of October 15, 2014, grant applications must be for events or programs taking place between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015.
Attendance data and proof of promotion: Applicants for the current grant cycle who have been awarded a Medford Arts Council grant for a similar event or project in a past grant cycle are required to provide data on attendance for each project or event receiving funding, along with copies of any promotional materials. The materials must be provided as an attachment to the current grant application. If, however, the event or project has not been held prior to the application deadline, the information on attendance and promotional materials may be provided in an email to the Council as soon as possible following the event.
Local planning: You must show that you have made specific plans to hold your event or activity in Medford. That means including a specific letter of support from the organization which controls the local venue. For example, if you plan to hold your event at the Medford Public Library, you must include a letter of support from the Medford Public Library saying that they want to host your event. We do not fund applications which show no sign of specific local planning.
Collaboration: Projects involving collaboration must include a letter from the collaborating individuals or organizations confirming their commitment to the project.
Business sponsorships: The Council recognizes the tremendous value of the different contributions that area businesses can make to the local creative economy. Partnerships between these businesses and our grant applicants can help leverage private and public resources for the benefit of our community. The Council welcomes proposals that show public-spirited collaboration between applicants and businesses with the capacity to host or sponsor cultural events in Medford, and encourages the submission of proposals that allow new public arts and culture programming to take place with the assistance of businesses that have agreed to offer space, expertise, or other resources. The Council will look favorably upon proposals of merit that demonstrate a commitment by partner businesses to provide partial funding for the proposed project.
Transportation: We do not fund transportation for field trips.
