Funding Priorities
We are a small town with a small grant budget, so we favor smaller grant proposals that will have big community impact while stretching funds the farthest. This year, 2012, is North Brookfield's 200th anniversary, so we are particularly interested in proposals related to the town's bicentennial. We invite and will consider, of course, proposals of all kinds.
Our priorities are to support local organizations and individuals wherever possible, including artists of all kinds, performers, scientist/environmentalists, and so on, as they create events and share their talents with our residents. We especially seek community-building projects and events that support children and families, teens, senior citizens, multi-generational groups, and the community as a whole, and to provide seed money for new community efforts.
Here are a few ideas from the North Brookfield Community Input survey: writers (author visits, poetry slam, townwide read, workshop); anything to do with music--concerts (outdoor, Bluegrass, jazz, blues, country/western, rock, metal, Big Band, classical), dances (Contra, 18th-century, ballroom, teen, square dancing), classes (flamenco, line dancing); theatre (children's play, Shakespeare , musicals); art (classes; sculptor to work with students to create a piece for school); video/photo (classes, animation, film series); field trips (museums, historical sites); nature (garden tour, guided walks, gardening); history (tour, enactments, map reprints); classes (cooking, organic/health, computers, home business); and many more!
We welcome your application and look forward to reading your proposal!
