The mission of the Norwood Cultural Council is to promote excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all residents of Norwood.
Our primary function is to award grant monies to individuals and organizations in Norwood, and the broader community, who are dedicated to keeping our town a culturally rich and economically vital place to live and work. For example, we grant funding for enrichment programs at the elementary and middle schools, music and dance programs at the Senior Center, artists demonstrations and lectures for the Norwood Art Association, the carillon concerts you hear on Monday nights in the summer, and lectures and programs at the Morrill Memorial Library. And, this is just a small sample of the programs and activities that we support.

Funding Priorities
The funding priorities of the Norwood Cultural Council are based on our local guidelines. We are especially interested in applicants who are trying new ideas and new projects, and in artists with a connection to the community who are working in conjunction with the schools. As a result of the budget cutbacks, NCC is does award Field Trip (PASS) Grants for the current fiscal year. LCC grants will be carefully evaluated for evidence of planning. We do not expect to be the sole source of funding for most projects and will be looking for matching funds from other sources. Accurate and complete budget information, evidence of thoroughness and planning, a project date and place is also expected.
Local Guidelines
The Norwood Cultural Council strives to support: (1) Individuals and organizations from Norwood; (2) Individual artists working in Norwood; (3) Individual artists working in conjunction with the schools; and (4) New applicants with new projects and new ideas. Further, we urge individuals and organizations that are not locally based to work with a local partner to schedule events and to secure matching funds. Planning is a critical factor in our decision to award grants and local partnership demonstrates planning. Events scheduled with definite dates also demonstrates planning and a commitment to our community. Securing matching funds, especially when working with the schools, means that scarce funds can serve more people.
