Funding Priorities
We try to fund a broad range of programs so that all members of our community will find something of interest.
We are looking for:
Proposals from local and area artists/presenters/sponsors;
New programs/projects;
Programs/projects promoting the arts, humanities and the sciences;
Collaboration between cultural groups and community organizations;
Proposals showing a match of cash or in-kind services to the cash requested of the LCC.
Local Guidelines
Applications must be filled out in full, and meet all MCC state and local funding criteria. Please be sure to:
Include a local venue and/or confirmed sponsor;
Show community interest, involvement, support;
State the qualifications, accomplishments, track record of the applicant group or individual leading the project; Include your project budget.
Funds are not to be used as the sole means of support for projects of a continuing nature. Re-applications for continuing projects are rarely funded for more than three years. We encourage groups to not rely on annual funding and to develop other funding sources.
Due to the limited amount of MCC funds available each year, local grants of over $500 are rarely awarded. Smaller requests are more likely to be funded; the majority of grants funded are for less than $350.
Applicants must meet the annual MCC application submission deadline in October. Fill out the on-line application, print it out and mail it to: Sandwich Cultural Council, Sandwich Town Hall, 130 Main Street, Sandwich, MA 02563. All applicants will be notified of award decisions by letter. Denial letters will be mailed in November or December. Successful applicants will be notified in January. Awards are paid on a reimbursement basis after the program/project is completed and the request for reimbursement form and accompanying documentation has been submitted. Instructions will be included in the January award letter.
