Funding Priorities
The purpose of the Stoughton Cultural Council is to support public programs that promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities, and interpretatrive sciences .
CRITERIA for AWARDING FUNDS

A. Arts refer to the creation of work in the crafts and performing,visual, media, folk, design, literacy, and interdisciplinary arts. They also include the presentation and preservation of an education about works in these disciplines. Humanities are types of learning that deal with human values and aspirations, human thought and culture, language, and creativity. Examples include but are not limited to history, social studies, philosophy, criticism, and literature. Interpretative Sciences engage people of all ages in learning about nature, science and technology in ways that explain how they relate to people's lives.
B. Public Benefit. LCC funds must be used to support activities that contribute to the cultural vitality of the entire community rather than benefiting private individuals or groups.
C. No Substitution. LCC funds must not substitute or replace public fundung of programs in the Arts, humanities, or interpretative sciences.
D. Non-Dependency. LCC funds are not intended to be the Sole source of funding for projects on a continuing basis.
E. Non-Discrimination
In accordance with state law, LCC may not discriminate against applicants on the basis of race, gender, religion,color. national origin, disability, sexual orientation , or age, nor may they fund projects that discriminate on the basis of these attributes.
Local Guidelines
Application(s) can be obtained at the Stoughton Town Hall and the Stoughton Public Library.
Please submit six copies of your Grant Application.

The following guidelines changes were voted unanimously at the August 13, 2012 Cultural Council meeting.
1.Reimbursement change – If grantee does not apply for reimbursement within the allotted timeframe, future grant decisions may be jeopardized.
2.Funding Priority – will be given to Stoughton performances, events, artists and organizations based in Stoughton.
3.Letter of Support – A letter of support from the Stoughton sponsor (organization, venue or department head) is recommended for favorable preference.
4.Advertising - All advertising for a funded project must acknowledge the support of the Stoughton Cultural Council by a written or verbal credit statement , or by use of the Massachusetts Cultural Council logo
