FY24 Local Priorities

Local Councils are authorized to develop additional criteria and may give different weight to their criteria in order to reflect local concerns and community cultural needs.

DACC PRIORITIES:
• In addition to the state guidelines and criteria (see the MCC website), DACC prioritizes applications in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences that focus on: community-wide gatherings, such as festivals, concerts, plays, films, lectures, workshops, and other performances; nature, science, farming, environmental, and interpretive sciences projects; arts education in the schools; arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences enrichment for all; restoration and preservation projects; projects that celebrate local history and promote cultural diversity; projects that attract underserved groups or a broad spectrum of the population or support diverse forms of cultural activities.
• Project must benefit people in the town of Dennis – i.e., audiences, artists, students, residents, visitors and organizations.
• Preference is given to local/regional applicants and activities that demonstrate a clear cultural benefit to the Dennis community.
• Applicants must state how the proposed project will benefit the Dennis community.
• If the project is a regional event that includes additional towns or has been submitted to additional local cultural councils, applicants must describe specifically how the project will attract and benefit the Dennis participants.
• Awards generally are not less than $150 or more than $1,000.
• For repeat applicants, preference is given to new and different projects because our goal is to support a wide range of innovative activities.
• Repeat applicants should be aware that priority is given to new applicants.
• Project must be clearly defined and detailed. Applicants must identify a venue, date, and audience before submitting an application.
• Preference will be given to applicants who submit a letter of support from the venue, including confirmed date(s), if event will be done either in-person or remotely.
• Field trips are considered for funding, but DACC does not fund transportation costs.
• Priority is given to projects that are free to the public, discounted, or low cost/affordable.
• Preference is given to projects submitted by non-profit applicants.
• Grant programs must occur between January 1st and December 31st of the applicable funding year.

We request that in accepting any grant monies, the recipient will acknowledge the Council with a statement on any advertising, press releases, flyers, programs, etc: “This event has received funding from the Dennis Arts and Culture Council”.
