The mission of the Shelburne Local Cultural Council is to help fund a broad range of cultural events that support and enrich the community life of Shelburne Falls and the immediate area. We encourage local cultural educators and artists to develop and share their talents through programs and events that appeal to the diverse interests of residents of all ages.

The Shelburne Cultural Council is committed to fostering awareness of the value of racial, ethnic and cultural diversity in our community life through funding projects in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences. Given the constraints posed by the COVID-19 pandemic on public gatherings, the council encourages grantees to design projects that meet COVID public safety guidelines, such as those which use virtual platforms, can be presented via safe outdoors or compliant indoor venues; or are designed for ongoing public displays. In light of the pandemic’s impact on education, we welcome projects that help promote remote learning while engaging students to express themselves creatively and informatively. To these ends, we welcome innovative concepts and encourage collaborative projects among local artists and organizations.
Each grant application must define its audience and if appropriate collaborative partners. It must provide a detailed budget and present a sound publicity strategy. Because of limited resources, applicants should not expect this council to fully fund projects; application should indicate how grantee will achieve project’s total funding. In the recent past, grant amounts from this council have typically ranged from $50 to a maximum of $500.
All funded applications must meet current MCC requirements and, if funded, advertising must credit both MCC and all LCCs involved. If possible, include a statement of support from hosting organization and/or venue. A link to the applicant's website is helpful. Full reimbursement will be made upon documented completion of the grant project.
An online application will be available October 1.
